Is there an official "elevator speech" that the interns can use when someone asks them what Project SEARCH is? If not, please share ideas.

Hi Melissa,

The "elevator speech" should actually flow naturally in the conversation, so I wouldn't think having a prepared "speech" is the goal. As long as the basic facts are stated, it should be fine. I usually describe Project SEARCH as a transition to work program for individuals with disabilities that provides them an opportunity to gain equal employment. If the person has questions it's good to have information to provide, but usually people are just curious.

We're actually working on this today. We used youtube videos to demonstrate proper techniques and what to cover.

A few things to think about. Have the interns mention the host business. What internship they are in? Why they are there? Here is a sample in the simplest form.
My name is...… I am an intern at …….. My internship is in …….. dept, After Project SEARCH I want to work ………
Video and practice make perfect. Suggestion: Have them stand up and practice when someone new comes in the training room.
