9/28/2021 Topic: Staggered Start and Independent Interns Molly Michels Administrator	Hi everyone, Great questions. Staggered starts are a great way to get interns gradually out into the business. With two staff members, one will have to be in the classroom and the other one out in the internships. You can start the interns gradually with a couple of hours or half a day in the internship with one staff member and then they can come back to the classroom for the rest of the day while another intern goes out in the afternoon. Hopefully in the the next day, those interns can go out for a little while independently while a staff member gets another intern oriented and trained on basics in the department for half a day and then another for the other half of the day. If there are any specific tasks they need to practice repetitively, they can use materials in the classroom to practice. A good example is checking out dates or expiration dates. Another would be reading par lists. I have attached an example of a staggered start plan for 2 staff and 6 interns. You can see the initials of the staff members who were assigned to the different tasks. There is also a spreadsheet from the UK in the toolkit section. Just search "staggered" and it will come up.
