As an instructor I endeavor to find ways to bring higher level cognitive skills lessons for my interns. I started asking people from various job domains to be available between 8 and 9 on Friday mornings. The primary objective is to help interns build INFERENCE skills by observing, researching, and questioning guests about what they do for a living. The other objective is to expose the interns to the VARIETY of work available as they consider what to do next. Using only 20 yes/no it is surprising to see how quickly the cohort develops their skills to figure out what these folks do for a living.

We ask many different people from education, construction, medical, teachers from Ireland, design/media, advertising, writers, service workers, bank presidents, sewer cleaners, private contractors, tree trimmers, leadership trainers from Taiwan, and musicians to participate. We even had a Project SEARCH regional rep join recently (Thanks Joy!). COVID made technology more accessible so our guest chair can be filled from anywhere in the world. There is a bit of competition involved, but it's great when the interns collaborate to figure out the next question. Here at St Teresa Hospital in Maize Kansas we have only been stumped a handful of times.

With regret this Friday, April 29 is our last session for this school year. But we will crank up again in August. We are open for other cohorts this Friday or starting next August
