Security as an internship?

I am wondering if any sites have interns participate in the Security Department and if so, what kind of skills could be developed that would be transferrable to the jobs/careers in other areas of the community? I have an intern this year that has a great interest in protective service - he has tried to apply to different branches of the military but has been turned down due to being diagnosed with Autism. In working with him and talking with his family, we are looking into ways to help him obtain employment in a related field such as the police department. Our site is in a hospital and I did find an intern task list that I think our he could benefit from if we are able to get a Security department site up and going, I am just wondering if there are specific skills he could learn from that department that would also be beneficial in any other job. Thanks!

Internships for Interns with Limited Vision

Hello,

Last year one of my interns had visual limitations, our host site is at a hospital. The departments he participated in were the Welcome Desk, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (he did struggle here because he couldn't see the equipment well enough to clean it independently), Grounds keeping/Greenhouse and one of the Orthopedic Units. He was able to give directions and escort patients/visitors, he stocked the supply carts for Ortho and assisted staff in the greenhouse in getting ready for spring.
