12/11/2020 Topic: Multiple site internships DJ Warren	30 minutes is quite the haul! Could the Teacher rotate between the two - every other day, doing the lessons virtually for one group and present with the other? The skills trainers could alternate also depending on your needs, or one at one location and the second at the other. I see this was posted in October, so hopefully you've figured it out?? I'm curious for an update!
12/11/2020 Topic: Pharmacy Internships DJ Warren	Our hospital does not allow pharmacy internships as there is a certification each employee must have to legally work with or stock specific medications. We have tried a couple different times to get in, as their department is behind our classroom and we can see they have lots to stock and sort. Due to this regulation however, we cannot even be in their department. That is our experience, so we've had to create other internships.

2/2/2021 Topic: Interns at 2 different sites DJ Warren	We have interns currently at 3 sites, however, all are within the same healthcare system and are no more than 4 miles from one another. We have one working in occupational health and another at the hospital print shop. We are taking turns observing and meeting their needs at the offsite location. In your case with it being 30 minutes away, I'd be concerned with travel time lost. I would try to set a schedule where everyone alternates days and travel so that there is a more comprehensive view of the intern and their progress/ needs. I see you posted this in November, what did you guys decide to do? How are you handling it??

2/15/2023 Topic: Lunch Break DJ Warren	We bring in HR and have them explain theft of service and how the amount of break time gets calculated by hours of work. We calculate their hours and show they are not eligible or what they are eligible for.
8/23/2023 Topic: Email Addresses for interns DJ Warren	We have a PS Google number to use also that is tied to a generic PS email for us as staff (we don't use it for communication, it was previously used to store photos only). You can also go into past interns google accounts and remove yourself to add their own numbers for those who are no longer active in the program. That may free up some opportunities for you!
8/23/2023 Topic: Great workbook for a whole financial health. DJ Warren	There is an awesome financial literacy resource called Cents and Sensibility... not sure if everyone has seen this or not, but I find it super beneficial in my program. It is a TREMENDOUS resource and I feel like other programs could benefit from it as well. I do this throughout the year a couple days a week and throw in lessons from PS on the other days. I also try to have different bankers from the community to come to the class and engage with our interns one on one. This year the local Teachers Credit Union will be coming to class and actually creating bank accounts for them as well. Hope everyone has a great year! I tried to attach it but it's too big, so google it-- it's from a state resource in Pennsylvania, we ignore the state resource reference as I am in Texas.

8/23/2023 Topic: Signing Day DJ Warren	We have done this for the past 3 years-- we coordinate with the campuses and use their step and repeat that they use for athletic and college signings. We do a spirit line and invite the other special ed classes on that campus as well as parents. The administrators with the school district as well as our partners and site business administrators come also. We have new signage for this year that has the PS logo vs using a standard banner. I also create certificates that the interns sign (as well as myself) accepting them into the program. If anyone wants a sample please email me at dj.warren@tylerisd.org. 3/27/2024 Topic: Daily Anecdotals for Skills Trainer DJ Warren	I'm curious as to how different teams operate. As the VR job coach is required to submit daily notes on each of the interns, do other teams assist this person in this task or is it solely the task of the Skills Trainer in your program. I have spoken with both types of programs, but would like to know what everyone else is doing. Thanks in advance!
