Push back from host site

We have done the same as Jillian. I have expanded in our Nutrition Services Department from the dish room into the prepackaged food prep area and now the café to restock, clean tables and assist over the busy times. I do a lot of networking throughout the summer and my daily travels checking on our interns. I am always speaking of our interns and what they can offer a department, especially now that many places are short staffed. Interns can do the smaller time consuming tasks so the more trained staff can attend to their positions. Keep networking. We expanded into a mail delivery route and restocking of linens and supplies on patient wings this year just to fill a need due to fewer staff. Good luck!

Hospital Internships for Interns in wheelchairs

We have our first intern in a wheelchair this year as well. She is currently in the radiology registration department where she takes the patient name, testing type, appointment time, and then when a registration window is open, she calls the patients to the registrar. I plan to have her in either the gift shop or at a satellite location scanning files into the hospital system. I am struggling as well with this individual who is high ability, just limited by her reach and space constraint due to unmotorized wheelchair. I am also having a hard time with 2 deaf and hard of hearing individuals this year, again my first experience this year.

Brainstorming for Intern with Low Vision

I am also looking for ideas for an intern that is considered legally blind, can see outlying shadows and needs very Large print. He does not use a magnifier at this time, we are hoping to get one in place. He is in his first rotation in the café sanitizing tables, sweeping under booths and restocking items where braille has been added. He wants to try everything, but safety becomes a concern in areas such as the dish room. We hope to make accommodation's for the mail route to be a possibility next rotation or perhaps linen services.

I would appreciate an ideas for rotations within a small hospital for an individual with very limited vison, and even slight hearing loss.
Thank you in advance for any direction.
