Staggered Start and Independent Interns

Hello all,

We have a brand new site at ThedaCare Appleton. We have 7 interns, 1 instructor and 1 skills trainer. I am looking for some resources on a staggered start. Also to help the interns get the most out of this experience, there will be times that interns will have to be independent in the classroom, while the skills trainer and instructor are out supporting interns in their departments.

Looking for resources for a staggered start schedule and independent meaningful work for intern to do in the classroom.

I have already reached out to the volunteer program and they didn't have anything for us to do. I have also reached out to different nursing homes, with no luck.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as we are closing in on our start to internships! Thank you and hope everyone is doing well!

Interns hosting their own internship feedback meet

Hello .. here is a powerpoint template that I used for our meetings today! Prior to filling this out I had a lesson on hard vs. soft skills. We used a lot of the vocab for that lesson to help fill out the powerpoint. After the lesson, we worked through the powerpoint. After the powerpoint was filled out I printed it with the 3 slides with notes options. We then created a script that they could use while running the meeting.

We currently do not have a handbook with policies for our Project SEARCH program. Not having visitors at lunch or no off site lunch. Snow day policies. Mask and vaccine policies (we are at a hospital). Communication flow chart - no contacting mentors directly.

Would anyone have an example of a handbook that they provide interns and families? Also would anyone have a handbook example that they provide mentors of strategies to support interns, explaining about disabilities, policies of communication with families, etc?
1
