Developing Free-Standing Website

Hi Everyone,
I am a job coach/skills trainer at the Project Search program in Mobile Alabama. We are looking at developing a website for our program and have decided to go with a free-standing website, rather than one that is linked through one of our partners. My question is has anyone else done this and if so who did you go through to develop/setup your website? I know at the National Conference this year I attended a breakout session about Reverse Virtual Job Fairs and it was mentioned in that breakout session about setting up a website. I would love to get in contact with the speaker of that session or anyone else who may have information on this topic. I am currently looking at going through wix.com. Thanks for any help!
