Hello!

We are fairly new to using Voc Fit and are trying to determine best practices.

When adding the new interns for this year, should we do the Voc Fit assessment BEFORE we add their first internship (which asks for Voc Fit info) or do we add them in and enter the skills they will be using on the Voc Fit drop downs and then do the Voc Fit assessment later when we have more observation data?

Thank you!

Hello -- I'm sorry for the delay in posting. Ideally, you would assess them before each internship and at the end of the final internship so you can show change over the entire Project SEARCH year. You might not have great information the first time you assess someone -- we added 'low ability/unsure' as an assessment option. So I would do the best you can at the beginning. Some programs have added items to their skills assessment day to catch some additional VocFit skills. For next year, you can have the staff member from their previous program (either teacher or paraprofessional or if they are an adult program, someone who worked with them previously) fill out the assessment. Please reach out if you have further questions. I added the VocFit get started guide below -- there are some 'best practices' listed at the end of that document. Please reach out to me if you have any further questions. Dennis.Cleary@cchmc.org
