We (UNM Hospitals, Albuquerque) stopped using that department for that exact reason. We tried to incorporate as much cleaning equipment and checking functionality and upkeep of wheelchairs and such as possible. However, it was always a struggle like you said of not being able to do the main task independently so we have been hesitant to reach out to that department again. |

Security as an internship?

We currently don't have any students in security but have also been trying to carve something out to start an internship there. Some of the tasks that we have been thinking about are: assisting the badging office (they get crazy busy on certain days of the week with new hires), Parking assistant (either assisting cars where to park when the lots start getting full and assisting Security Guard checking parking passes upon entry), Checking in vendors (they currently just have a laptop where they have to "sign-in"), rounding security equipment for proper functions (radios, call in stations, automatic doors)
That's what i have so far! Hope it at least is a start! |

Working in the Hospital setting it was really exciting to have a Surgeon come and speak with the interns about how there jobs allow him to do his job. It was nice to have a professional tell them what we do as it seems to have "stuck" with them.
We have also have local police officers come in and talk about interacting with the police. It was great for both parties I think to make sure that there is a level of comfort with uniformed officers. Getting them exposure to the police force also helped because we are a public hospital who is the main facility for the prisons and jails around the metro area.
We have a Social Worker coming in to speak on Gender Identity and Personal Pronouns. One of the interns saw a supervisor wearing a "My Pronouns are:" button and had lots of questions. I felt it would be cool to have an outside person reiterate what I tried to explain about what Pronouns mean. |

I really found these helpful! I haven't used all the games, but this might be a good start.

I would love to see a panel about technology and applications. Like our site is using Google Classroom, Drive, Docs and such. It would be cool to see what other technology/Apps people are utilizing! |
